Topic: Stereotypical genres for specific sex's
We've all seen this before and we've all done this before. We think specific things belong to a specific sex because of a reason(s). Whether is be the color of something, the romance of a movie, or a way somebody sings. We classify something into "This item was meant for a female." I can't help but wonder why we do these things? I can say that I'm bised on this topic. I believe whatever somebody likes, they shouldn't be ashamed because it was "meant" for the opposite sex. I am a perfect example. I am a man. I do have a girlfriend, and I don't seem very feminine, but I do enjoy romance movies, such as The Note Book. I bring this topic up because I'm into a show called TrueBlood. This show is very popular amongst the female population, but why? The show has a lot of violence, action, and romance. Does this romance factor make it head towards the specific sex? It's the only reason I can think to believe. I know a lot of other guys who enjoy the show as I do, but also, I know a lot of others who spot the DVD collection in my movies, and ask me about it as if it's a sin. I do find it funny in a way how people think. My girlfriend appreciates it, for obvious reasons. I believe we judge too quickly towards people. I am not ashamed to admit the type of films, or music that I enjoy. This is who I am. I am straight, masculine, and enjoy a romance film from time to time. I suppose it goes into my nature of wanting what they have, which I do with my girlfriend. I treasure the romantic side of our relationship, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
